James Tolkan, the actor best known for playing Vice Principal Strickland in the "Back to the Future" films and Commander "Stinger" Jardian in "Top Gun," died Thursday in Saranac Lake, New York at age 94. Tolkan had a 55-year career spanning film, television and Broadway, including an original cast role in "Glengarry Glen Ross."
